VOLUNTEER SHOWCASE

Verda Troyer & Darlene Norton

These two ladies, Verda Troyer (8 years, seen left) and Darlene Norton (5 years, seen right), come all the way from Streetsboro and together volunteer in our fabric area every week. They both started here because of invitations they received: Verda from her sister-in-law Naomi, who continues to volunteer, and then Verda invited Darlene!

Darlene is a quilter, so the idea of working with fabric interested her — and she hasn’t been disappointed. “The people” are BIG reasons they love volunteering here — the relationships they have with other volunteers, staff, and even customers they’ve gotten to know when putting things out on the shelves.

Verda shared, “MCC is very important—you’re helping somebody somewhere and furthering the ministry of Jesus. Plus, it’s a day of FUN!” And Darlene agreed: “Giving back, and giving my time to this.”

They both wanted to encourage others to volunteer here as well: “Just try it one time—and you’ll be hooked!” They love getting out of the house and having this to look forward to. We’re so glad you make the trip each week and hope you will continue for a long time to come!
